Permanent: You must be married with a Costa Rican or have a Costa Rican child. You can work, and you just have to live here for 3 days per year to maintain the status.

Pensionado: You must have a lifetime pension over $600 per month. You can have a company, but you can not work. To maintain your status, you have to exchange $600US into colones per month. You must live here 122 days per year. If your pension is from the Social Security, you can request it here in Costa Rica at your consulate. For private pensions, you can request from us a sample letter.

Rentista: You must prove that you have an income of $1000 per month for 5 years (further income is require for dependants, $1000 for spouse, and $500 per child). To maintain your status, you have to exchange $1000US into colones per month (if you have dependants, then it dependants in the amount that you proved at your application). You must live here 122 days per year. The prove of income must come from a bank. The bank must be register in the Polk’s Book. You can request from us a sample letter.

Inversionista: You must be part of the board of directors of a company that have invest a minimum of $200.000 in Costa Rica. The company must have a minimum of 3 costar Rican employees. You must present all the legal paperwork of the company, and it must be in rule with the government. Depending the business, other documents can be required, you must check with us first
