Depending the company that manage your health insurance in your country, it may not cover you in Costa Rica, that’s why we suggest you to check with your insurance company which coverage they offer you in Costa Rica.

In case that it won’t cover you in Costa Rica, INS will offer you health insurance. To get this insurance you must al least have begun with the residency process in Costa Rica. INS offer coverage from $10.000 to $2 million. The suggested one is the Regional Plan, that covers up to $200.000.

This insurance does not cover preexistent conditions, and there are several condition, that have a time period to be covered.
